Delivery Adventures - 2022 Part 4

Part 4: The Saga of the Muirhead Delivery Truck

My oldest son Grant was going down to a job interview in the Willamette Valley so I had him deliver a few remaining items to customers in the area last week. A customer visited with Grant and had a question about what happened to the delivery truck that broke down in Bend. Unfortunately, Grant told him the truth "He gave the truck away to a tow truck company in Bend for salvage." You think you have raised a kid right and then he goes and rats you out like that. Well the story is out there now and no point in denying it. Here is what happened from my side of the story.

It all starts with that same truck leaving me stranded one evening to try a little hitch-hiking outside of La Grande (turns out I don't have the face for hitchhiking). Next, the truck broke down with the other delivery driver which cost a one time $5k donation to the local Isuzu dealership, not to mention the lost delivery time. We also had multiple other engine problems this year (I have two engines currently torn apart) and so when the engine started grinding bearings while I was trying to drive it I snapped and started calling scrap yards!

Grant, the son who cannot "not" tell the truth!

There is no great excuse for this. Now that I have torn apart two engines it feels like a third would be easy. What is in the past, though, can't be reversed, and on the bright side I believe the tow company might be planning on fixing the truck and putting it back into use. It isn't dead yet! If you get a tow in the Bend area take a close look at the tow truck- it might be an old friend.
